Synopsis
The year 2020 was distressing to many, COVID 19 brought about so many disruptions in various parts of our lives, and as we have come to the New Year the adjustments / disruptions brought about by the COVID 19 pandemic have been carried forward. In 2 Chronicles 17 we find a story of Jehoshaphat taking over reign of the Southern Kingdom of Judah after the death of his father - David. This must have been a time of distressing for him having come from a background losing his father.
We see Jehoshaphat begun by strengthening himself against Israel by placing troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had taken. He strengthened himself not to attack but to defend himself against the idolatrous worshippers from North Judah. Jehoshaphat took note of his strengths and threats, and made an evaluation to strengthen himself to defend against these evil vices. Do we give care and proper attention to the things of God, and are we putting garrisons to defend against the devil.
Further, 2 Chronicles 17:3 we see that God was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the former ways of his father David and sort God of his father. We must seek the LORD wholeheartedly, we see the example of Jehoshaphat who after building the garrisons he sought the God of his father and took delight in the ways of God. How is your walk with the LORD?
