Synopsis

In this passage, we focus primarily on verses 11 to 18, as we observe two particular things concerning the encounter between The Lord Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene — that is, firstly, the grief of Mary and secondly, the patient and comforting ministry of The Lord Jesus Christ to her. As The Lord spoke to her, He commissioned her and sent her forth ... this is what the risen Saviour does to us, when He has called us to Himself, when He has planted a new nature in us, when He has clothed us with His righteousness. He does not want us to sit down and enjoy the thrill of the moment — He wants us to go back and share Him with others, He sends us in order to be commissioned as His ambassadors. Mary obeys and announces to the other disciples — "I have seen The Lord!" Are you able to say that you have seen the Lord? Has your heart been melted by the presence of The Lord Jesus Christ and the truth of The Lord Jesus Christ, that he has risen from the dead? Has he filled your heart with the deepest conviction such that you, who did not recognize Him before, now have your spiritual eyes (that were blinded by sin) opened because the Light of God's truth has shone into your heart?
