Synopsis
Cain is one such in the Bible who deserved the ultimate punishment from God for his sin, a man who did not deserve any pity for the callous execution of his own brother. He does not only lie to God about his sin, but also refuses to repent. What should God do with such a man?
Well, if we thought of God simply as a cruel, angry, mean and impatient being, and a God frustrated with His rebellious children, and can’t wait to punish them, then His response to Cain would offend our sensibilities. In dealing with Cain as He did, God did not act outside His character.
Here are some points of application from Cain's prosecution and sentence:
1) Sin drives us away from the presence of God, in Genesis 4:16 Cain went away from the presence of God.
2) God's judgement must be seen in the context mercy and grace, they are meant to lead us to the salvation (Romans 2:4)
3) Abel's blood cried for Justice but Christ's cleanses us from all sin, that when stand before God on the day of Judgement the wrath of God would not come to us because of the blood that speaks a better word than that of Abel. (Hebrews 12:24)
