Synopsis

Generally, tears are an outlet of the heart, they communicate what is in the heart. In this passage, the Lord Jesus Christ wept. Here, tears are meaningful and give us an insight into His heart. Pastor Isaac Makashinyi highlights three points to show the meaning and message of the tears:

1. The tears communicate that Jesus Christ is a man of perfect emotions. He is the high priest who took on flesh so that He can identify with us. He is touched by our sorrow.

2. The tears communicate that Jesus is a man of compassion and has love for lost sinners. Jesus wept because of the consequences He knew would befall the city of Jerusalem and it's people.

3. The tears communicate that Jesus knows the eternal value for the soul. Our souls are valuable in the eyes of God. Enough so, that God himself came and died for our sins - our souls.

Believers ought to be touched by the value of souls. Understanding this value will move us at the sight of a lost soul and share the gospel. For non-believers, these tears of Jesus Christ show an opportunity of knowing him. To come home and receive the offer of salvation that the Lord Jesus Christ has. Don't disregard the love and compassion that He shows.
